A couple of months ago I (Erin) reconnected with an old friend from high school via Facebook. We talked on the phone after exchanging a few Facebook messages, and when I mentioned I was going to be in Lexington, she asked if I'd take some photos of her girls. Reconnecting was so sweet; I cannot even tell you. And her girls happen to be lovely.
Meet Z. The whole session, she kept saying, "Erin, will you play with me now?" So play we did, and I snapped photos as we went. She is smart. She is confident. She is one of those kids perfectly content to have a grown-up conversation. Seven is an amazing age, still a kid but old enough to have thoughts about how a session should go. That's what Z convinced me of. She said we're sure to be great friends. I think I agree.
Meet E, a precocious, delightful bundle of energy. She ran. She frolicked. She played. She paused for photos only when she felt like it, in perfect two-year-old form. And she made my day with her easy laughs and love, love, love for her mama, my friend. She is on the verge of having LOTS of words, and by the time I see her again, I think she'll be competing with her big sister for conversation. In the meantime, she goes. And pauses to say what she thinks only when necessary. I love that about toddlers.
Getting to do photos of an old friend's kiddos? A total honor. And I'm thrilled with how they've turned out so far. Honestly, though, they made a great excuse to get together and be great friends. Because that's what we are. Here's your sneak peek, ladies, can't wait to show you the full set of proofs (and to see you again soon!).
